To carry out high-quality cleaning of an apartment, house or office you can not do without a vacuum cleaner - which, incidentally, itself requires regular cleaning. Collected dust and small debris fall into the dust collector; it must be periodically removed and emptied. You can wash a bag from a vacuum cleaner, but only if it is a reusable product made from a material similar to a fabric. Paper bags are not erased, but simply discarded as they fill up.
Why wash a dust bag
Recently, many models of vacuum cleaners have appeared on the shelves of household appliances stores, in which a plastic container plays the role of a dust collector. Very convenient: washed - and no problems. However, products with traditional bags also continue to be produced and are popular. Therefore, questions remain: how to clean the bag to collect dust, can it be washed and how often do you need to do this?
Regular cleaning of the device is necessary for three reasons:
- In order to maintain the power of the device at the level specified by the manufacturer. If the filters in the device are clogged with dust and debris, the suction power is noticeably reduced.
- To prevent the device from overheating.
- So that no dust particles remain in the air leaving the vacuum cleaner.
If an unpleasant odor appears during the operation of the device and the case of the device heats up quickly, it is urgent to start cleaning the filters and dust collector.
Types of bags
In bag vacuum cleaners, two types of products are used: disposable and reusable.
Disposable dust collectors are made of thick paper or thin synthetic material, which decomposes upon contact with water. A disposable bag filled with dust is sealed and sent to the bin, and a new one takes its place.
A reusable bag with proper care is used for several years - until the fabric breaks or the fastener breaks. After cleaning, shake out the dust bag. However, there comes a time when the matter is completely clogged with dirt and dry cleaning no longer gives positive results. In this case, the bag can be washed, although manufacturers do not recommend this.
Do not wash the fabric dust bag in the washing machine, as it can lead to deformation of the product.
By type of material, reusable bags are divided into the following groups:
- cotton - have seams in which garbage is clogged;
- synthetic - easily cleaned by knocking out, washable without problems, as they have no seams, but do not tolerate brushing;
- from non-woven fabric - the most advanced products with special protective impregnation, are used in expensive modern models.
The type of dust collector determines how quickly it will become contaminated and how it will have to be cleaned. Dry cleaning is recommended when filling at 2/3, washing is usually carried out after 5-6 knockouts.
How to clean a reusable bag from dust?
Before starting to wash the fabric dust bag, it must be completely free from dust and small debris and shaken thoroughly. This is done as follows:
- Disconnect the device from the power supply.
- Open the lid of the vacuum cleaner and carefully remove the bag to collect dust. Pulling on a special loop, close the dust bag and lay it in a plastic bag.
- Shaking the bag is better on the street. If you hold this event in the apartment, there is a risk that all dust will remain indoors and have to be cleaned again.
- Remove the clamp-clamp and shake the dust into a trash can or other suitable place for this. You can immediately clean the walls of the bag with a brush or, returning, go for a second vacuum cleaner (if any).
Now it remains to correctly insert the dust collector into the vacuum cleaner chamber, making sure that the hole in the bag matches the outlet of the unit and close the lid. The appliance is ready for use again.
How to wash a bag from a vacuum cleaner?
To wash a bag from a vacuum cleaner, preserving its appearance and functionality, you need to know some features of the process and take into account the manufacturer's recommendations.
For all types of reusable bags, no matter what material they are made of, only hand wash is allowed. Otherwise, damage to the plastic elements is possible. As a detergent, it is better to take a gel, but you can use washing powder and laundry soap.
The work is carried out in several stages:
- 5–6 l of water is collected in a basin, the temperature of which is not higher than + 30 ° С. Washing in hot water can cause fabric shrinkage and product deformation.
- Bring a little detergent. If it is a powder, then it must be diluted so that the water is almost transparent. Also come with laundry soap.
- The filter cleaned from dust is placed in water and, without applying special efforts, is squeezed by hands. Now the bag can be left to soak for 50-60 minutes.
- The product is rinsed several times in cool water, and then laid out on a grate above the bath.
- After excess moisture drains, the filter should be dampened with a towel and hung to dry. Do not use heating radiators, heaters, hair dryers, or other electrical appliances for drying.
As soon as the dust collector is completely dry, it is installed in the vacuum cleaner - and you can again start cleaning.
You must not use an under-dried filter, since a humid environment promotes the propagation of harmful microorganisms, which are already present in excess in dust particles.
Proper and regular care of the vacuum cleaner will extend its life. After cleaning, check the filters and, if necessary, wash and dry them. The filled disposable dust bag should be discarded, and the fabric bag can be washed, dried and reused.
