Is the bearing worn in your washing machine? Not sure how to arrange repairs? Think, maybe you can replace the part with your own hands.
Replacing the drum bearing of a Zanussi washing machine is a complicated repair because you will need to completely disassemble the SM. However, following our step-by-step guide, you can do it yourself.
How to understand that a bearing is broken
The most reliable symptom of a malfunction is the error codes E13 and E55 on the washer display. If the self-diagnosis system has detected a problem and issued a code, you can proceed with disassembly and inspection.
But if there is no code, and you hear loud noise, hum, vibration, rattle during each wash, all this also indicates bearing wear.
Additional check: open the hatch door and swing the drum by hand. If its rotation is heterogeneous, it deviates strongly from the tank to the rear wall - the malfunction is obvious.
Reasons for malfunction
Most often, bearings wear out due to water ingress. If the stuffing box (sealing rubber) is damaged, water begins to leak out, which leads to breakage. Also, improperly installed SMA can cause imbalance, which also leads to wear.
In this case, the repair of the Zanussi washing machine is required, namely, the replacement of bearings.
Unscrupulous manufacturers may install an inappropriate element that does not withstand the load of the machine. As a result, he serves no more than 4 years.
Types of Parts
Let's see what bearings are on the Zanussi washing machine. In modern models: Zanussi Aquacycle 1000, Zanussi FA 622, Zanussi FE 1002, Zanussi FL503, CN Zanussi ZWT 3105, Zanussi ZWT 385 and others - two-row and single-row elements are used.
- Single row elements come with a smaller bearing and gland.
- Two-row is installed with a snap ring, represents one large part complete with an epiploon.
You can do the replacement of the bearing in the engine of the Zanussi washing machine yourself. But it's better to do this in the early stages, as soon as you notice the noise. Otherwise, wear of the part will damage the shaft, as a result you will need to replace part of the drum.
Repair Preparation
To successfully dismantle and then install the bearing, you need to:
- Screwdrivers: slotted, Phillips, hex.
- Torx keys.
- Pliers.
- Set of wrenches.
- Hammer and bolt (15-20 cm).
- Glue or sealant.
- WD-40 for sticky parts.
Time to prepare a washer. Unplug it, turn off the water supply. Disconnect the intake hose and drain the water from it. Also drain the remaining water from the drain filter, which is located at the bottom of the front panel, behind the hatch.
Work sequence
Before disassembling, replacement parts should be purchased. The bearing numbers of the Zanussi washing machine can be found by the CMA model or by looking at the element.
Moving the car away from the wall, proceed to disassemble. First of all, covers and panels are removed:
- Remove the screws securing the top panel. Remove it and set it aside.
Please note that some bolts in the Zanussi washers are hidden by plugs..
- Unlike other SMs, Zanussi machines have a two-part housing. To remove the back cover, you must additionally unscrew the screws of the bracket, which fastens the panels from above.
- Then the lid slides back and retracts.
The advantage of this brand is the absence of the need to dismantle the front panel.
Thanks to the device, the back cover opens most of it. This is enough for repair.
- Remove the drive belt. Pull it toward you while scrolling the pulley. So it is easier to remove.
- Need to unscrew the pulley. To do this, lock it in place with a ratchet and unscrew the central bolt.
- Remove the screws securing the counterweight over the pulley. Set it aside.
- Take a photo of the location of the heater wires. Take them off.
- Also disconnect the wiring of the motor, unscrew the three fixing screws.
- Pull the engine out of the housing.
- Using pliers, unclip the drain pipe clamp, disconnect it from the tank.
- Next, remove the shock absorbers. Put the head on the other side of the stem, pull it out with pliers from the front.
- We move up. Remove the filler pipe by loosening the clamp.
- Remove the pressure switch tube that leads to the tank.
- Before replacing the bearings in the Zanussi washing machine, you must remove the manhole cuff clamp. To do this, bend the sealing rubber, tighten the clamp and unclench the screed.
Wonderful! It remains only to pull the tank out, removing it from the suspensions.
- Remove the screws along the edges of the tank that hold the two parts together.
- Remove the upper half.
- With gentle hammer blows on the shaft, disconnect the tank from the drum.
- Tidy the drum shaft. Clean from dirt, clean to a shine.
- Turn the back of the tank upside down. Remove the oil seal. To get the bearing, install a bolt on it and lightly tap it with a hammer. This should be done evenly and only along the extreme rim, otherwise damage the part. The same rule applies during installation.
How to change the bearing in the Zanussi washing machine? First, clean the landing site.
Install a new part into the socket by tapping on the outer race.
Lubricate the oil seal and place on top of the bearing.
The car is going in the reverse order. Before joining the tank parts, lubricate them at the edges with sealant, then fasten with bolts. So you can avoid leaks.
